Bauhinia Carcass Classic will return in 2026 bigger and better
About us

The Bauhinia Carcass Classic hosted our First Annual Grain Fed Carcass Competition in 2022. Since then, we have been privileged to raise an amazing $33,360 for the Springsure Agricultural and Pastoral Society, a further $14,960 for relative charities such as the RACQ Capricorn Helicopter Service and the Royal Flying Doctor Service QLD Division, as well as making necessary improvements to the Cattle Facilities at the Local Showgrounds. Our Objective continues to be support for the local district show for generations to come and to open up a gateway for local CQ Pastoralists to showcase their product and hard work in a competitive setting. Since beginning this competition, we have received the highest number of cattle in attendance at the show in several years. The event consists of both penned and singles classes for both Steers and Heifers, to ensure that Pastoralists big and small can all participate. This year’s event will begin at the local Springsure Show, in May and then continue on at Allied Beef’s Vandyke Feedlot with the Presentation Dinner to conclude proceedings, once again, in Springsure later in the year. Additional events of interest throughout the competition are our Inspection Day at the feedlot, where people can view the progress of the entries before the conclusion of feeding and the judging commences; as well as our newly added Schools Program that is run in conjunction with the local schools, so that they can participate and follow the competition generating interest in their local industries and widening their Agricultural Education. As usual we would not be able to move forward with any of this if it was not for the support of our wonderful Sponsors, year in and year out, and we would like to forward our heartfelt thanks to them all!!!
The objective of the Bauhinia Carcass Classic Committee is to support the local district show for generations to come and to open up a gateway for local CQ Pastoralists to showcase their product and hard work in a welcoming and competitive setting.
